The Lord gave me this word some time ago. But in the way life often does, distractions crept in and I lost focus—for a time. Thankfully, by His mercy, I was redirected back. How patient is our God.
We love talking about God’s love. In fact, we’ve heard it so much that it’s become the centerpiece of most modern Christian messaging:
“God is crazy in love with you!”
“God is obsessed with you!”
“He just can’t get enough of you!”
While there’s no denying that God’s love is pure, eternal, and unchanging, we’ve somehow managed to taint it with carnal interpretation. We’ve humanized it. Romanticized it. Reduced it to emotion, preference, and feel-good quotes. We’ve made God into someone who just wants to pamper us like a celebrity fan rather than a righteous Father who calls us to discipleship.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
— Matthew 22:37 (ESV)
That’s not optional. It’s a command.
Yes, God loves you. But do you love Him back?
Because real love is obedient (John 14:15), and real Christianity will cost you everything.
The kind of Christianity Jesus modeled is not the soft, sticky, “self-care” brand of faith you find trending today. It isn’t passive. It isn’t convenient. It doesn’t comfort your flesh—it crucifies it.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
— Acts 20:35 (KJV)
And yet, many believers today are takers—chasing platforms, applause, and personal breakthroughs with no true posture of surrender. We’ve become a people who want comfort without commitment and benefits without burden.
We are in dangerous territory.
We are fast approaching a time when true Christianity will not be tolerated. The world will call God’s righteousness “intolerant.” They will label conviction as cruelty. The Word will be mocked, and His people will be pressured to compromise.
In fact, we’re already there.
If your Christianity is based on feelings and public opinion, you won’t stand.
If your walk with God is centered around validation from people, you won’t last.
So I ask you plainly:
Are you prepared for the shaking?
Because it’s coming.
Here are just a few signs that you may be ill-prepared for the journey ahead:
This list is not exhaustive. But it’s enough to stir reflection.
Jesus didn’t train His disciples with motivational slogans. He taught suffering, carrying your cross, being hated for His name, and laying down your life.
So if your entire understanding of faith is built only on grace, blessings, favor, and increase—you are ill-prepared for the road ahead.
No, this isn’t about being “strong enough” in your own power. None of us are. But it is about taking a posture of readiness. Of humility. Of sanctified resolve.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”
— Ephesians 6:13 (ESV)
You know the ones:
If you leave church more in love with the preacher than with Jesus—you’re in trouble.
It’s time to cut off what’s sweet but spiritually toxic. The walk ahead is narrow. And it’s getting narrower (because the gate is straight).
Until next time,
Stay sober. Stay awake. Stay faithful.
Blessings,
Adorn Her
